Justin Timberlake may be facing legal charges over the name of his latest single ‘Take Back the Night.’

Justin’s first single for upcoming album

justin-timberlakeA couple of days after releasing Timberlake’s ‘Take Back the Night,’ his first single off of his album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ has gotten into some trouble with well-known anti-rape sexual violence organization of the same name.

The song takes the name of a popular foundation, which “serves to create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.”

Take Back the Night, “seeks to end sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse, and all other forms of sexual violence.”

Issues over use of name and song’s actual content

The foundation claims the singer didn’t ask for their permission to use the term in his new song.

“Everyone at Take Back the Night is really shocked, because normally, we get asked when people want to use the name,” said the foundation’s executive director Katherine Koestner. “Normally, entities as large as Justin Timberlake do very kind and thoughtful things to support our cause.”
Apart from the title, the organization also had issues with the song’s actual content. Koestner pointed out “the lyrics are definitely very sexual and not at all clearly anti-sexual violence.”
