Miley Cyrus and her new album made a major achievement.
New release “Bangerz” reaches the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart, after selling 270,000 copies in its debut week.
Fifth No. 1 album
This news comes after the industry analysts predicted that the album could top the chart if it sold 250,000 copies by the end of expected week.
This isn’t Cyrus’ first time at the top, though. Counting her ventures as the Disney character Hannah Montana, this is now her fifth No. 1 album.
She topped the list with Hannah Montana’s first soundtrack in 2006, as well as its film adaptation soundtrack in 2009.
“Bangerz” is the singer’s third most successful debut apart from “Breakout,” which sold a total of 371,000 copies in its first week, while “Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus,” sold 326,000 copies.
Success of new album
The 20-year-old former Disney star has made headlines with a series of raunchy performances.
The success of “Bangerz” comes after her first single, “We Can’t Stop,” made to the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and “Wrecking Ball” gave Cyrus her first No. 1 song on the top 100 chart.
“Congrats this week,” Cyrus responded with three emoji smiley faces and a follow-up tweet”lezzzz celebrate #topspotzzz.”
